Turkey Donation and Carving Thursday, November 21st (updated from Lion Brian’s notes)
Benicia Lions Club Participation
Our participation in the Thanksgiving Community Dinner is a two-part process. The first part involves donating a minimum of 14 frozen turkeys. The second part involves carving the donated turkeys and hams (donated by other organizations). Please see below for the details of each part of the process.
Part 1 – Turkey Donation
We are requesting Lions Club Benicia members each donate one or more frozen turkeys that weigh a minimum of 18 pounds. We donate a minimum of 14 turkeys so if we receive less than 14, we purchase the remaining turkeys from the club charity account.
The frozen turkeys are delivered to the Community Action Council on Monday, Nov. 18th, by 10:30 AM. At our next club meeting (11/7) we can discuss how best to coordinate the purchase and delivery of the turkeys. One option which might be easier for everyone is if you wish to donate a frozen turkey is to instead write a check/or cash to cover the cost of one or more turkey(s), then two club members can purchase the 14 frozen turkeys and deliver on the 18th. Again, we can work out the details at the next club meeting.
